vintage swimsuits

Ok, I think I'm obsessing a bit too much about vintage stuff lately. My taste - once clean lines and minimalistic - is now totally into retro, antique, frilly. And I'm loving these retro swimsuits featured on the Country Living website. Sexy? Perhaps. Adorable? Totally! Good bikini line coverage for between waxing appointments? Oh ya!

comfy (but funky) shoes

My mom told me that a day would come when I would choose comfort over fashion and I didn't believe her. I guess it's a sign of getting older, as nowadays I am constantly on the lookout for comfortable shoes with a fashionable twist. Not always an easy combination! Last week Nicole wrote about these FRYE Women's Ada Pleats Peep Toe Pumps and I can't stop thinking about them...they are so funky but are apparently really comfy too! Now to decide...what colour? I love the lemon ones! And the coral is cool too. But is sky more practical?

getting ready for the circus!

My sister Shayna's circus wedding is fast approaching! In fact, it is on Saturday and it looks like everything is in order!

Shayna's friend Rashmi painted this cute circus poster for her, in the wedding colours of yellow and teal. I helped make them into invitations complete with envelopes, maps, and admit one tickets.

My circus wedding outfit is coming together nicely to...

this is my dress from Fraiche and ribbon from Mokuba
these are my accessories - an over-sized fabric flower from Le Chateau
and feathery fascinator made by my cousin Julia

these are my yellow {and extremely comfy} heels from the Kenneth Cole store in Chicago.

SYTYCD: costume change

Did you see this great costume change on So You Think You Can Dance last night? Take a peek at 0:35...it's genious! These two, Karla and Vitolio, went home tonight despite their wonderful quickstep. But how I loved Karla's split-second change of dress! I wish I had a piece in my wardrobe that could do the same!

sarah seven

I'm currently trying to find a dress to wear to my sister's upcoming circus wedding {think vintage circus...no scary tigers or clowns!}. I'm feeling inspired by some of these handmade lovelies by Sarah Seven. Each dress is custom-made with natural fabrics, and Sarah donates 5% of the proceeds to charity. The dresses take about 6 weeks for delivery so I am out of luck {the wedding is 4 weeks away} but I can still drool over these creations!

chunky knit thingies

I know it's spring and I should be thinking about shorts and bathing suits! But I still have Larry on my mind {sorry P.} and how cozy it would be, even on a summer's night at the cottage. I did a search on Etsy for scarves and I found this cute girl from Hamilton who makes some lovely knitwear...and she has great style! I'm digging some of her funky, vintagey, boho outfits and am deciding on the Larry-esque cream scarf. You can see more at her Etsy shop, Yarn Over Movement.

i love you yellow shirt

P. and I went to see I Love You Man this weekend and I actually really enjoyed it! Not only was it hilarious, but it catered to my inner fashionista. While P. was taken with all of the Rush music, I was eyeing all of the yellow featured in the wardrobe of Rashida Jones' character Zooey. And there was one yellow shirt in particular, with beautiful circle detailing, that I was crazy for! After a quick search on the web yesterday I realized I wasn't the only one hunting down this beautiful number. Luckily Possessionista tracked it down at Pringle of Scotland - however with a $750 price tag I might just try constructing it myself! Check out the yellow duds, the cheery yellow wedding, and the coveted yellow shirt {and a zoom-in on the circle detailing}. I love you, yellow shirt...

bring on the braids

I'm loving this side-braid hairstyle apparently made famous by Lauren Conrad, but made a bit more sophisticated by Jennifer Aniston at the Oscars. I tried this easy 'do on the weekend - and believe me, it salvages a bad hair day {and growing-in bangs} extremely well!

the clutch

I wrote a post a while back on Bloomerism about clutches and I just found a bunch more on Etsy that I love! Check out these beauties from Shakuyaku. Which one would you choose?!

and speaking of award shows...

I may not be going to the Juno's but I am going to be attending the CEP Star Awards as a nominee! My other company, inBloom Event Design, has been nominated for an award for our design work on Julia and Iain's wedding! The event is pretty formal and I feel a bit like I'm getting ready for prom with hair, makeup, pedis and manis. I still haven't quite decided on my dress - shall I wear this cool Grecian piece from French Connection that I love {looks better in real life!}? Or this emerald green Banana Republic dress that I wore for...erm...a few weddings last summer? But I do love the colour of it...I'm leaning towards the emerald green. Thoughts?! Have a great weekend!

i heart fifi lapin

Meet my new desktop wallpaper by Fifi Lapin - "the world's most stylish bunny" according to Elle Magazine!

I would have to agree...Fifi has some very inspiring outfits, and I'm into her latest runway looks. Check out the incredible marigold dress she sported in Paris!

In addition to being a fashion icon, this little rabbit also makes some lovely wall artwork too...check out the beauty below.

Desktop wallpaper is from the brand new {and lovely!} Kindred website. See more of Fifi here...
